Katrina Rae grew up near Sacramento, California where she was the youngest of four children in a family of musicians and singers. Katrina knew she wanted to be a “REAL” singer before she was four years old. All through her childhood and youth she prayed and practiced to attain a voice that would be as good as the singers’ voices she heard on the radio and TV. Her goal was to become one of the best singers in the U.S. As a result of the years of work and God’s blessing, Katrina has a truly gifted voice with three octaves of range and tremendous versatility.
After Katrina married her husband, John, she set aside her career plans to begin their family. For the next ten years she remained at home to be with their five children through the preschool years. When Katrina returned to singing, she entertained throughout California and did voice-over work in studios. She became known for her smooth and relaxed style in country music. But, Katrina wanted more for her career. In l984, she and her husband packed up the family and moved to the Nashville to secure a record deal.
After arriving in Nashville, Katrina began working with a country record label. Frequently she was asked to perform inspirational songs for different churches and clubs. At first, Katrina thought the invites were simply because the people liked her voice. She turned down the requests but something started growing inside her that she couldn’t shake. In spite of herself, she found herself drawn and directed towards Gospel music. Eventually she agreed to perform at just one Christian gathering. That one performance changed Katrina’s heart and the direction of her singing career. After much prayer and soul searching, she left her country music career to give her gift of voice back to the Lord. Six months later Katrina presented her first inspirational concert.
